Take Note of Witnesses

If you are in public, witnesses should be plentiful, get as much contact information from them as you can for future reference. Ask them to wait to make a statement for the accident report as well. 

Take Pictures or Video of the Scene

Get pictures and/or video footage of the whole scene. If possible, try to include signs, witnesses and the full view of the area where the accident occurred. This can be crucial later when trying to prove liability in your case.

Call Security and/or the Police

If your slip and fall occurred because of the aggressive or intentional actions of another, call the police to the scene and file an official police report. Also, have a witness or bystander get any local security for your location if they are available.

Alert Store or Property Owner/Manager

Immediately alert the property owner or manager of your accident and injury. Ask for a formal report to be filed as well. Documentation is key in slip and fall cases.

Get Medical Attention

If you were injured, see a doctor right away. If you are immobilized or severely injured, call an ambulance to the scene for transport.
