Pedestrian safety is so important, but often overlooked. On the busy streets of Metro Atlanta, everyone worries about car wrecks, yet constantly ignore pedestrian dangers. All car accidents don't just involve other cars. Pedestrians are at risk all the time from being hit by a vehicle or injured from unsafe conditions around them. Here are some tips to help reduce your risk of injury as a pedestrian.

1. Always Use Crosswalks: Never cross in the middle of the road. Only cross the street using crosswalks. If the intersection has pedestrian crosswalk signs, follow them strictly.

2. Make Eye Contact: If you aren't 100% positive a car sees you crossing the street or in a parking lot, make eye contact with them. Be sure the driver knows you are there and your proximity to their vehicle.

3. Pay Attention To Your Surroundings: Don't stare down at your phone, listen to loud music with earphones or be distracted by other people nearby. Know who and what is around you at all times.

4. Wear Bright, Reflective Clothing At Night: Nighttime can be very dangerous for pedestrians. Be sure that you are as visible as possible when walking.

Car accidents are literally everywhere in Metro Atlanta. Many of them even end in serious injury or fatalities. It is important to be proactive when it comes to staying safe on the road. Reducing your risk of a car accident is important no matter how experienced of a driver you are.

Here are 3 safe driving tips that may help you stay safe on the road:

1. STAY OFF YOUR PHONE: Cell phones have become a huge distraction for many drivers. Turn your phone off if at all possible. If you are using the navigation through your phone, silence the ringer and text alerts so you can stay focused.

2. TAKE A DEFENSIVE DRIVING COURSE: I know it may sound cliché, but they really can help. These types of courses can update you on new driving laws, dangerous driving trends and better prepare you to deal with reckless drivers.

3. KEEP YOUR VEHICLE WELL MAINTAINED: A poorly maintained vehicle has much more of a chance of breaking down. Tire blow outs, transmission failure and poorly maintained windshield wipers are just a few of the vehicle issues that can lead to serious car accidents.

How do you know which personal injury attorney to hire? Personal injury lawyers seem to be everywhere. You see them on TV and hear them on the radio. They always seem to say the right thing, but how do you know who to trust? When the time comes to choose a personal injury attorney you need to know what to look for. Here are some things to consider when it comes to selecting a personal injury attorney:

When you are seriously injured, you feel upset and vulnerable in additional to actual physical pain as well. The last thing you need to add to your problems is a lawyer that sees dollars signs when they look at you, rather than seeing you as a real person with serious emotional, physical and financial needs that need attention. Compassion cannot be underrated. When your attorney truly cares about you, that will translate into how hard they will work for you to win your case and get you the settlement you deserve.

Is your attorney willing to give you one on one personal attention or will you just be pawned off on a low level associate or secretary whenever you need help or have questions? Having a personal injury attorney who will take the time to consult with you and represent you personally can make all the difference in the world. You want to feel confident that you will have someone to depend upon that knows the law and will fight to protect your rights.

Does your attorney have real hands on trial and settlement experience? Can they layout a history of a real cases and cash awards that they have won?
